Guangda Shoes Factory Workers Blocking Road To Ask For Wages Labor Protection Department Intervention

Most of the workers are unwilling to follow, so they ask the company to pay back the wages and overtime pay deducted since 2002. But the company has not responded for months, causing dissatisfaction among workers. "If the company has orders, there will be no rest on weekends." according to the workers, since 2002, Guangda company has allowed workers to work until 10:00 or even 12:00 p.m. and work overtime for 2-4 hours every day. Not only is there no overtime pay, but also no basic salary. An employee of the company's general affairs department (responsible for attendance, salary statistics and payment) disclosed that Guangda records the attendance time of workers by clocking in. From 8:00 p.m. to 8:10 p.m., the company stops clocking, but workers can't leave work at this time. They have to work until 10:00 p.m., and some even need to work overtime until 12:00 p.m. During this period of time, there will be no record on the work card, and the workers will work for nothing. On Saturdays and Sundays, there is no overtime pay for employees to work on Saturdays and Sundays. Return the employee's attendance record in December. In the clock in form, although the worker clocked out on four Sundays of the month, it was blank in the attendance list. "Only if the company doesn't have an order form can we have a rest." Employees said. Yesterday afternoon, reporters interviewed randomly at the scene, and the staff confirmed the above statement. Factory officials said they didn't know the situation. Yesterday afternoon, several factory leaders urged the workers to return to the factory and asked them to select representatives to negotiate with the company. However, the workers unanimously refused. The workers said that the company had repeatedly reflected the problem to the company, and the company had not responded after nearly three months. Baiyun District labor security department and Baiyun police immediately arrived at the scene, persuading workers to leave the road and return to the factory for consultation. At 4:40 p.m., the workers finally agreed to return to the factory. Shisha road resumed traffic after nearly four hours of traffic jams. At 4:30 p.m. yesterday, the reporter found a responsible person with the surname of Zhou in Guangda. He said he did not understand why the workers suddenly left the factory and blocked the road. He would respond after the company consulted with the workers' representatives to understand the situation. Baiyun District, a responsible person of the labor and social security department who handled the problem on the spot, said in an interview that the labor department will handle the problems reflected by the workers.
