Liang Qiyuan, chief executive of DHL global freight logistics (Hongkong) North Asia Pacific region, revealed that China's clothing and garment industry with an annual output value of up to US $7 billion 500 million is the focus of DHL's future interest and is expanding its investment.

At present, China has strengthened its supply chain solutions, infrastructure construction and human resources allocation in China to meet the growing demand for distribution in the garment industry.

Liang Qiyuan said that since 2009, DHL has invested 6 professional fashion and garment "excellent logistics centers" in the Asia Pacific region, one of which is located at Hong Kong International Airport, with an area of about 2500 square meters. By the end of 2010, a new fashion and garment "excellent logistics center" will be built in Jiuting, Songjiang District, Shanghai, with an area of 5000 square meters.

He pointed out that China's fashion and clothing market is undergoing a fundamental transformation, with a scale of $305 billion in 2009 and a 21% annual compound growth rate until 2014. At present, China's rapid urbanization process will continue to expand the market potential of fashion retailers, and these retailers are also faced with a sharp reduction in product cycle, and fierce competition from important procurement bases in South Asia, resulting in profit pressure, which urgently needs to improve the overall standard of garment logistics chain.

In the global fashion and garment export market, the North Asia Pacific region accounts for 66% of the total volume of global air cargo exports and 54% of the global maritime export volume. At present, China is still the world's largest exporter of textiles and garments, and will maintain an annual growth rate of 6% of air cargo and seaborne exports by 2014. At the same time, China's garment retail market is developing quite rapidly, and the potential of logistics service in this field is huge.

Huang Guozhe, chief executive of the company in China, said that some big clothing brands are buying retailers and sales channels in the local market. The expansion of retail industry needs new supply chain mode, so it is very necessary to establish distribution centers in China. In response to this growth demand, DHL has expanded its warehousing and distribution network in China's first tier cities, and is moving deeper into the two or three tier cities, and will continue to increase investment in this area in the future.

To this end, DHL has launched a "door to multi" logistics solution for the fast growing Chinese fashion and garment industry, especially for retail outlets. Huang Guozhe said that the so-called "door to multi" logistics is to combine the goods of multiple votes suppliers into one vote to meet the needs of international shipping and local clearance. Subsequently, the merged goods will be split and distributed to retailers outside China and abroad to form a complete and efficient transnational supply chain.
